Event Host's Summary
of the 2009 Grouse Grind Challenge
July 16, 2009
Another year and another great turn out for the Grind Challenge. 34 people
turned out on a very HOT Thursday night to pit themselves against the
infamous Grouse Grind.
Records where shattered. The fastest time to the top was 33:53…the gazelle
in question was Chris Radziminski — yes Adam's stealthier brother. On the
ladies' side, just as impressive, at 42:05 was, as always, Alex Giuffre.
But being fast is not the name of the game — being able to come as close to
ones guessed time is…and that is where all the marbles go to.
The results are as follows.
Ladies
| Grinder | Guess | Actual | Spread |
| Martina Martin | 55:00 | 54:54 | -6 seconds |
| Alex Giuffre | 42:05 | 42:27 | +22 seconds |
| Man-Lee Lam | 51:00 | 50:33 | -27 seconds |
Men
| Grinder | Guess | Actual | Spread |
| Charles Bristow | 44:30 | 44:29 | -1 second |
| Brent Martin | 55:00 | 54:55 | -5 seconds |
| Matt Dorling | 42:00 | 41:38 | -22 seconds |
Big thanks to everyone for a great turn out! You raised in excess of $350
for the North Shore Rescue, to help them continue their great work here on
the shore. It will be given to them in the memory of, our good friend, Denis
Fontaine — there was no other character like Denis. He left behind a great
fun-loving legacy, which many of us strive to emulate; but, that we will never come
close to.
