2008 Evergreen Summer Doubles

In lieu of a Summer Solstice party, the Evergreen Squash Club celebrates the event with a doubles tournament. This annual event is a mainstay of the Greater Vancouver doubles community. It is an opportunity to celebrate the easy living of summer, and a chance to assess one's waning skills.

Entries

Registration is now closed.

The hardy crowd use the event as an opportunity to test themselves and raise a little money for charity by competing in the Summer Doubles Heptathlon. It is open to one and all — but, only the most hardy survive.

If you think you have what it takes, you will be required to complete the following events:

  • Doubles Event 1
  • Doubles Event 2
  • Golf Challenge at Northlands Golf Club
  • Grouse Grind Challenge
  • Friday Night BBQ
  • Saturday Night House Party
  • Sunday Wine & Cheese

(Personally, I just take some time to list all my ailments to Richard, and the others, before apologizing—again—for not being able to take part.)

And, thanks to a number of volunteers, and Don Smerch, there are always enough snacks to keep the competitors, and guests, from completely starving while catching the matches. The Saturday night party, to which those attending contribute, is traditionally hosted in the home of one of our generous members.

With the summer looming large, with the generosity of the sponsors and volunteers, and with the hearty competition, it is definitely an event to add to your calendar early in the year. You don't want to miss it.
