Thank You

Marvin Mizinski, chair of the 2009 Ridley Windows Canadian National Doubles Squash Championships, has sent a thank you letter to Evergreen for its support of the tournament. The text of the letter is provided below. A PDF of the original letter is also available.

Re: Canadian Nationals Doubles Squash Championships 2009 sponsorship

Adam, as our Club President, I hope that you can personally pass on this thank you note to the board members of our club and a small group of members, namely Rob Forrest, Tim Martin and Scott Sibley. Their support and dedication to the Canadian Nationals was outstanding, and "THE REASON" why the event was such a success at Evergreen.

I would like to personally thank Evergreen and its members for the club's generous contribution to the 75th Canadians. A small key club, but, the continuing contributions that come from the club, and its members, are crucial to the development of doubles squash in Vancouver.

Our goal as an organizing committee was to create an event that would celebrate 75 years of doubles squash tradition and show North America, specifically Toronto, how an event of this stature should be done. I believe the term used by the committee was let's "kick ass."

One hundred and ninety people attended the four day event. Evergreen was a satellite club for the event that hosted a number of age category events; consequently, we ran a full schedule of matches at Evergreen over the four days. As you know most people complain about the fact that they do not get to play at the host club. Thanks to Rob, Tim and Scott, I heard absolutely no complaints — not one — so a very big thank you.

I was not at the club at all over the four days, but, I can say that I was extremely proud of Evergreen and the job performed by it's committee — they "kicked ass!!!!"

Thank you,

Marvin Mizinski
Proud club member and tournament chair.

P.S. Some excerpts of e-mails that I have received …

To the committee … despite the high entry fee, you and your organizing team are to be congratulated on offering excellent value … you've gotta love Coffee and Costco muffins on a Saturday morning … free beer, what a bonus. I had a great time. You guys did a heck of a job, well done!

Good morning Marvin
Just wanted to congratulate you on a great tournament. It was first class all the way. I played in the 60's and wanted to thank Rob Forrest and the gang who did a yeoman's job at the Evergreen keeping everything rolling.
Thanks again for a great weekend.
Cheers

A personal note to say thank you for a job well done on the National Doubles. A terrific tournament and I heard nothing but positive remarks and comments from our visitors and the locals. A first class event.
