2011.09.15 18:00

Mike Tooley has offered to provide a mini rules clinic, for singles players, the evening of Thursday, 2011.09.15 — commencing @ 18:00, at the Club.

If you plan on attending, please complete the on-line registration form. This will allow Mike to gauge interest, and more accurately determine how long the session will likely take (as duration is partially dependent on the number of attendees).

On-line registration will close
Monday, 2011.09.12 23:59.

We reserve the right to limit attendance. If that becomes necessary, registrations will be accepted in the order submitted. That is, first come, first served.

Clinic Details

There is a $10.00 participation fee. The clinic is ‛classroom’ style. Some relevant materials will be provided to take away — Squash Canada Rule Books are an extra cost. (All rules are available on either the Squash BC or Squash Canada Web sites.)

The clinic will cover, among other things:

  • Fair Play = Fair Outcome
  • Warming Up / Time between games
  • ‛Officiating’ Terminology — with emphasis on limiting discussion
  • Foot Faults / Service Faults
  • ‛PAR’ scoring, tie breaker rules
  • Rule 12 – ‛Obstruction’ — Let / No Let / Stroke
  • Turning – Actual / Mental!
  • Injuries – Self inflicted, opponent inflicted, combined
  • Bleeding – Strict rules to prevent, cover and eliminate

There is usually a lively amount of discussion at these clinics. Depending upon the number of participants, and their relevant knowledge, the clinics typically last from 1½ to 2 hours.
