Hi Folks - sorry I didn't put out a notice earlier, but with the holidays and snow etc, I imagine no one has been around for yoga. Trudy has been away for the holiday, and will be resuming sessions this Saturday January 3rd at 9:00 am. With everyone's New Year's resolutions, I expect to see a full house!!

For those planning on attending more than one session per week, you may want to go for a monthly pass for $60.00 rather than the daily drop-in fee of $10.00.

Have a Happy New Year, and hope to see you Saturday.

Patrick Au is please to announce that the work on Courts 1 & 5 has been completed earlier than expected. The two courts will be open for use this Monday, 2008.12.08, morning — a week earlier than expected.

Please say off the courts this weekend so that the paint can dry and cure properly.

Based on the relative success of the Halloween Calcutta, a Christmas Calcutta is planned for Monday, December 15th.

The 15th was selected on the assumption that most singles players have it booked off for league and such. Please don't prove us wrong.

He speaks of what has happened, is happening, and is about to happen at Evergreen. We have just completed the Western Doubles tournament at the club, and I heard from quite a number of people how yoga is improving their ability to play squash, and remain off the injured list. Everybody seems to know that Yoga is highly beneficial to an athletic body (aging or otherwise). But, we are still challenged with getting the committment of our members to continue with these sessions. So please come and give it a try — I promise you will be pleased with the result.

We will be trying a new program, starting this week, to reward those who are regulars at the sessions. The drop-in rate will continue to be $10, but a monthly unlimited use fee of $50 will now be available. As a further enticement, we will start December a little early, so the monthly fee you pay now will be valid till the end of the year. If you wish to take part in this program, please bring a cheque to the next session payable to Trudy Austin.

All three sessions will be running this week — Wednesday at 1:00, Thursday at 5:30, and Saturday morning at 9:00. See you on the mat!!

Wednesday (2008.11.12) is on at 1:00 PM. Thursday afternoon at 5:30 PM cancelled this week and next. The next two Saturday mornings, at 9:00 AM, are a go.

The 2008 tourney is set to take place November 18 - 23. We already have a number of entries, and there are some great draws shaping up. As usual, the Mixed Open draw will have prize money, and entry fees are dirt cheap (as always!). Entry deadline is Wednesday, November, 12 at 6pm.

Hi Folks - don't forget, we are scheduling a yoga session at the Club at 5:30 tonight. If this gets the proper support, we will continue — please plan to attend if this time works for you.

We are continuing with Wednesdays at 1:00, and Saturday mornings at 9:00. There are now several options, and the sessions are great. And as always, please let me know if there are ways we could do this better to get you out there.

We are discovering a few things about the yoga classes.

1. The Wednesday noon session has fairly light attendance by those who have flexible schedules. Also, it is noisy due to the noon squash games. So we are going to try shifting this session to 1:00 starting next week.
2. The Saturday session seems to draw more, although it was cancelled last week due to the junior tourney. So let's keep this going at 9:00, and please keep supporting it.
3. We have been asked for another session after work — the challenge is to find a time where the club is not filled with activity — City league, Junior program etc. The only evening that seems to work is Thursday — so we are going to try a 5:30 – 6:30 session starting November 6th.

Again, if you have any thoughts of trying out Yoga, here is a great opportunity. Please call or e–mail with any questions, comments, or suggestions about improvement.

Good morning – I just want to let you know that Yoga will not be going on this Saturday due to the Evergreen Junior Tournament. It will resume next Wednesday at noon and Saturday morning.

We are currently working on a weekday evening session but are sorting out when the club will be empty enough to do it. Any suggestions?

The first session of In-House Yoga went ahead yesterday on very short notice, so understandably there were only a few attendees. But I am very happy to have this program going — Trudy is obviously very well trained and well spoken. Rather than tell you to follow her into the complex poses, she talks you through everything from the background of the pose to its intended purpose. I found it exactly what I am looking for as an inflexible squash player who is pretty much a beginner to Yoga. On the flip side, I also am confident that more seasoned practicioners will find Trudy very capable at all levels.

The next session will be Saturday morning — the schedule at this point will be Wednesdays at noon, and Saturdays at 9:00 am, excluding tournament dates. Remember, please bring you own yoga matt and $10 drop-in fee.

Hope to see you Saturday.

Starting on Monday October 20th there will be a weekly beginner's drop in at 6.00 p.m — meet outside the doubles court. This "drop in" is intended for those who wish to discover what doubles is all about and to enable beginners to meet other members of similar ability.

A landscaping day is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of September 13 & 14 — to prune hedges and generally clean up the club. Stayed tuned for your opportunity to sign-up.

The clean-up of the parking area is required to increase visibility and provide more space in the lane. Patrick Au has spoken with District of West Vancouver personnel, who have indicated that Evergreen could perform the pruning.

Due an error on my part, the on-line entry system for the Club Championships was not, for a significant period of time, e-mailing the entry information to the club e-mail account as it was supposed to. And, unfortunately, only dinner ticket requests were recorded in a separate file.

Entries submitted on, or after, April 3rd, 2008 and before, approximately, 9:30 AM Friday, April 11th, 2008 are affected.

This means that all those entries must be resubmitted. The error has now been corrected. So, if you submitted your entry on-line on or after April 3rd and before 09:30 this morning, please resubmit as quickly as possible, or contact Adam Radziminski or Scott Sibley with the pertinent information.

My sincerest apologies to all, especially the organizers, who are now going to be put under extra stress to get the doubles matches scheduled for Monday.

At the Club Championships' dinner, we will be presenting the second annual Bob Withers Memorial Sportsmanship Award.

Nominations are now closed. You'll get another chance next year.

For those of you who didn't know Bob well, or won't mind a little reminder, Maclean's had a well written look at who Bob was.

And for those who don't remember, Henry Tregillas was the first recipient of the Bob Withers Memorial Sportsmanship Award. A 39 year member of the Club, Henry is a friend and role model to us all.
